I would suggest taking it in to get it professionally fixed. It hijacked both Chrome and IE.Not knowing that this was the problem I tried the first two of these solutions but Search Protect hijacked the resets without me being aware.I finally I have been working on this for months. Also, what OS are you using?

Chrome starts and opens a window, but can't go to any websites. This fixed my IE and my lost explorer search button. Awesome. After some manual removals and scans and such all was good with firefox, chrome, and all other methods and ports accessing the outside world minus whatever that IE hijack was.
